OBZ 2.0

Create, click and connect - culture on the move. The OBZfestival always strives to be at the cutting edge of what is happening, at the vanguard of the local creative community. Web 2, Facebook, You tube, my space, web, wap and WI- FI: in the space of a few years the musical and artistic landscapes have been transformed beyond recognition. Offering avenues of presentation, transmission and communication that previously had not only been unheard of, but undreamed of. Cape Town and its sub cultures have embraced these new technological advances creating multiple matrixes and free flowing connections criss-crossing across the artistic spectrum.

OBZ 2.0 allows everyone from musos to artists, crafters to performers and ultimately you - the audience to fully maximize your festival experience. Starting with YouTube offerings from AKSP we are offering all the ultimate digital interaction. The festival web portal brought to by Broccoli and
Joe Fox New Media not only tells who’s who, what’s going down and where, it also connects with all the artists performing, presenting or selling at the festival, by linking to all their respective Facebook, My space and websites. Giving you the opportunity to continuously contact, listen, download or buy. Through this we hope to create an organic ongoing social network that positively buzzes before, during and after the festival.

Quote Web 2.0 describes the changing trends in the use of World Wide Web technology and web design that aim to enhance creativity, communications, secure information sharing, collaboration and functionality of the web. Web 2.0 concepts have led to the development and evolution of web culture communities and hosted services, such as social-networking sites, video sharing sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies. The term became notable after the first O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference in 2004.[1][2] Although the term suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to any technical specifications, but rather to changes in the ways software developers and end-users utilize the Web. According to Tim O'Reilly: Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the Internet as a platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform.[3]

Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web, has questioned whether one can use the term in any meaningful way, since many of the technology components of Web 2.0 have existed since the early days of the Web.
